I'm constantly charmed by new plants and ideas for my garden. For a little over thirty years I've been planting things saying 'I hope it grows.' Most things have and I probably planted a little more than I can keep up with, but I love the process. I feel more alive in my garden than I do anywhere else. So far the balance between what I have to do in life and what I want to do in my garden eludes me, but I keep looking for it.
This beguiled gardener is blessed with approximately 3000 square feet of green space in the Ohio River Valley. A little less than half of it is in turf. The rest probably needs weeding. I have called this space ‘mine’ for over thirty years. My soil is well amended acidic clay. Our average low temperature is between 0 and -5 degrees (F) and we receive an average of 44 inches of rainfall spread over the year. We sit at an elevation of 780 feet.
